SSA Welcomes New Snack Bar Proprietors — David Yates and Betka Courtade
About Chef David Yates: Chef David Yates trained throughout Europe before becoming Executive Chef at the White Elephant in London. Following this success, he worked as Corporate Chef at White Sands Resort in Bermuda and the Ciao and Prego restaurants in San Francisco. He was the Food and Beverage Director and Executive Chef at both the Nemacolin Woodlands and Rocky Gap Resorts, MD. Professionally trained in French culinary techniques, Chef Yates has culminated his years of world travel into an eclectic European Fusion cuisine. Locally, he has also been hosting monthly cooking classes at Whole Foods Market and Seminars at Fawcetts Boat Supply. With help from his daughter, Betka, who has experience in the food service industry they look forward to incorporating their love for sailing and food into SSA’s members’ services.
The new SSA Snack Bar will feature a simple menu with fresh foods with a seasonal approach. David and Betka will offer breakfast sandwiches, burritos and smoothies as well as home roasted meats for our lunch sandwiches, wraps and salads – all served with our fresh made pestos and salsas. Dinners will again incorporate a fresh seasonal approach and whenever weather permits be done on the outside grill. Catering (private and SSA events), Instruction & Provisioning is also available.
The menu will mostly consist of daily or weekly specials which will be posted and updated as they change. Wine and beer will be available along with their soon-to-be famous Dark & Stormy.
