Service Days Signups Run February 16-March 26
Be sure to select and sign up for your 2017 race committee and work party Service Days during the sign-up period, February 16-March 26. The 2017 Service Day obligation is:
Voting and Associate Members:
Last Names Beginning with I-Q: four days
Remainder: three days
Supporting and Student over 21: two days
Junior Associate: one day
To sign up for your duty days:
> Via the SSA website, click on the “Members Legacy Site” tab in the left-hand navigation area.
> Log-in using your email address and "old website" password (if you have forgotten your password, click on the "Forgot Password" link).
> Once you are logged in, click on your name in the Home page to open your personal file.
> Go to “Duty Days” at the bottom of your file to see the 2017 work parties and race committees needing volunteers.
> Click on box next to the event for the day(s) you wish to serve, then click on “Save” at the bottom. If you do not hit the “Save” button, your entry will not be recorded.
Note that evening events--scored TESODs and J/World Thursdays--provide half a Service Day credit each.
Members can Buy Out of one or more of their Service Days during the February 16-March 26 Open Period for a fee of $100 per day. It is expected that only members who cannot serve their days will use this option. To Buy Out, send a request to the SSA Office before March 26, along with your payment of $100 per day you need to buy out.
Please note that if you do not serve your obligated Service Days (or Buy Out them), you will be fined $125 per non-served day at the end of the season.
All race committee or work party needs that are not filled by March 26, will be filled during the following week by random assignment of members still owing days. At that point, it will become the member’s responsibility to obtain a replacement if they are unable to serve on their selected assigned day(s). “No Shows” who do not obtain a substitute will be fined $150 for the first day missed, and $200 for any subsequent days missed.
Members are encouraged to select their duty days early in the process, when the best selection of dates and events is available.
