We had yet another classic day of sailing yesterday! The competition continues to improve and the scores show it. The conditions were fantastic. After a practice race was held in the harbor for some PR value, Bugly moved the course out, setting the windward mark just inside the navy breakwater. Nine boats showed up including Lightning ace, Phil Grotheer sharing the helm with Jonathan Lange. We sailed 10 races making it another major scoring day. The winds were shifty and gusty from the northwest. Neither side of the course was favored all the time, and you had to keep a sharp lookout for where the gusts were.
Ray and Maria continued their Series 2 romp with consistent finishes in the top three and an unofficial 80% for the day. There were many other boats taking top finishes, but none more consistent. Jesse and Genie were back sailing again with some strong perfomances muddled by a few poor ones (2 firsts and a bunch of seconds). Alex and Lisa had three bullets and two seconds, but were also plagued by a few poor finishes. Rusty and Randy had some success, but dropped back after not starting one race. Macy and Pat were also among the top finishers for the day. The scores were close (except for Ray and Maria) and Alex will have them posted soon.
Nationals - Boats will be loaded next Sunday. ALL BOATS SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM SSA NEXT SUNDAY ALSO! Don't forget your trailers and tie-down lines. As I mentioned on Sunday, I need at least 7 boats to attend the nationals this year to win a bet with Alex (aka the Pessimist) [Editors Note: "Realist"]. Please don't bail out!
Measurement - Tom Stout and Jesse will be doing FULL measurements on everyone's boat. Please bring your measurement sheets. Tom and I will be available early on Sunday, so plan on getting there early to get it done. Also, thanks to Tom, we have a bow tip measurement jig! It really looks great and Tom should receive a hearty thank you from everyone.
