Frostbite Series Scoring
High Point Scoring Method
- Qualifying Days - 50% + 1 day (e.g. 9 days sailed ---> 5 days to qualify. Only your best days count if you sailed more days than is required to qualify.
- High Point Scoring - 2 points for finishing plus one point for every boat you beat. 1 point in each race for participation on that day (once a race is started, you rank as a starter for every race that day).
- PMS, DNS, WDR, DNF all get 1 point (as long as you sail at least one race for the day).
- Total Daily Points (TDP) = (No. Boats + 1) * No. Races
- Individual Points (IP) = sum of individual points for each race
- Individual % = IP ¸ TDP
- Overall Scoring - For boats qualifying for series, drop the day with the lowest daily %, or if a % tie exists, the day with the most total daily points. Calculate new overall % by summing the total individual points for each day and dividing by the sum of the total daily points for each day. Sort finishes by overall %.
- RC Days - People doing RC will recieve sailing credit for that day. Their score will be the average daily % for the best 50% of days actually sailed. Therefore, someone that did RC still must have sailed 50% of the days, but will qualify with 50% + RC day.
So, participation is rewarded by requiring 60% to qualify and by the establishment of the +1 daily point system. Races days are weighted by the number of races sailed and the nember of boats sailing. Overall scoring is based on winning percentage.
