1998-1999 InterClub Racing Results - Series 1, Day 1
Annapolis ICers-The results for day 1 are posted on the web site. It was a beautiful day... Doesn't bet any better than that. And to top it off, a free keg of Wild Goose was lurking for our consumption after racing. We got in 7 great races. The breeze was 8-12 from the SW, sort of like a typical TESOD day only 30 degrees colder, but still with the bright sunshine the temperatures were in the 50s.
The courses were slightly longer than normal, but that gave you a chance to play several periods of the shifts. In general, playing the middle of the course didn't pay off. You really had to pick your side; both sides worked but you really had to commit.
Alex and Lisa Pline won the day with consistent finishes, going left in virtually every race. Holding on until you really got the lefty to dig out of the corner payed off more than not. Finn sailor, Jeff Ewenson, sailing Jervis Dorton's (FOR SALE!) IC 270, came screaming out of the blocks to win the first three races and finish a close second for the day. Jesse Falsone and Pat Doyle finished the day in third. Ross Dierdorff, sailing with sister former Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year, Susan Dierdorff-Taylor, won many starts today at the pin end of the line to finish fourth for the day. They were sailing Allan Carscaddon's new IC 422.
Overall a great day of sailing. The only thing that could make it any better would be to have MORE BOATS on the line!
