Our streak of poor weather continued this Sunday. Eight boats turned out for racing in a tricky easterly. The wind shifted early after the start of the first race. Macy Nelson grabbed the lead in the dying northerly and held on to win. Race two was very shifty on the beat as the front passed through. The wind shut off on the run when the rain filled in. But, when all seemed lost, Henry Filter and Diana Belknap decided that they would sacrifice sailing for the day so that the weather would improve for the rest of us. The wind filled in shortly after they committed to the docks (thanks, Henry!). Alex and Lisa played the shifts well to win race 2. Once the easterly filled in, the ebbing current played a big strategic role. It was important to stay left of the fleet and get into the current sooner. The wind continued to build for races 3 through 6. Jesse Falsone sailing with new ICer, Jessie Vogelson, put IC 802 into gear. Team Jess(i)e won the last 4 races, coming from behind in two to nip Macy for the win. Alex and Lisa finished third.
Stand by for spring - it can't be long now.
