• Season Final: Alex Pline (and crews Nancy Gilreath, Lisa Pline, Jen Millar, Rhonda Myers, Dina Temple-Raston and Jonathan Lange) win series 2 and win the season championship in a tie breaker with Jesse Falsone. Alex and Jesse were counting idendtical scores for the season championship, but since Jesse was saving his ailing back for nationals, there was no shoot out, and Alex wins the tie breaker.

• Day 17, No Counters today. We ended the season with some informal racing and coaching by Jesse. It looked like a repeat of last weeks ugliness, but a nice 5-8 knot southeasterly filled in. With the season championship concluded 11 boats raced in SSA's Opending day event followed by some coaching and a few more informal crew races.

• Day 16, 4/1: Hal Gilreath/Ian Muntick drift their way to a first. One word: UGLY. Virtually no wind. No fooling...

• Day 15, 3/25: Alex Pline and Dina Temple-Raston win the shifty day. Another beautiful spring like day, temps around 50 and NW 5-15 breeze. 99 races so far this year and Jesse and Alex are in a dead heat for the overall series.

• Day 14, 3/18: Alex Pline and Nancy Gilreath take the day in a(nother) smoking Northerly. Another beautiful spring like day, temps around 50 and NNW 12-20 breeze. A light turnout, but some great sailing. We haven't lost a day yet this year to bad weather; is this place GREAT!

• Day 13, 3/11: Jesse Falson/Dina Temple-Raston finally get the can of whoop-ass out and win by 12 points. A beautiful spring like day, temps in the 50's and a puffy, shifty westerly made for some great, if not challenging sailing.

• Day 12, 3/4: Jesse Falson/Dina Temple-Raston come out on top of a tight one. The big Nor'easter held off just enough for us to get in 5 races in. The breeze was 10-20 knots from the NE with lots of really lumpy seas. Yes, InterClubs can plane (sort of)! Jesse and Alex are close in the overall season points.

• Day 11, 2/25: Alex Pline/Rhonda Myers take the light air day. The smoking Southerly promised by the national weather service arrived a little too late for us, around 4 pm at Thomas Point, and I noticed when I went outside tonight it was about another 10 degrees warmer. Nonetheless, Jesse/Dina did a great job at getting the races off quickly. Yes, it was light, but still six decent races.

• Day 10, 2/4: Alex and Lisa Pline take the extremely competitive day. Another great day of breeze. This time from the south, a direction we usually associate with summer. It felt like like a TESOD (Tuesday Evening Summer Series) with south breezes 10-15 and lumpy. Oh, except 40 degrees cooler. We got in 8 races; if we were using the high point scoring, the RC said we would have raced until dark to run up the points on a day Jesse wasn't here...

• Day 9, 1/28: Henry Filter/Nancy Gilreath win the day and Jesse Falsone/Dina Temple-Raston win series 1. This was about as perfect a day as possible. If you ever wonder "why do I live in Annapolis?" this could be a primary reason! Mid 40's, west breeze 10-15, season high 16 boats on the line and great racing. Despite an OCS Jesse pulls out second to win series 1. See the series' totals for the details. 5 (of 9) weekends were required to qualify. From now on, I will post both series 2 scores as well as for the running combined series 1 and 2 scores as the fleet championship trophies are awarded based on the combined series.

• Day 8, 1/21: Henry Filter and Nancy Gilreath win by 7 points over Alex Pline/Jen Millar in a quintessential Northwester. Finally, some breeze! Moderately cold, but the bright sunshine and breeze made up for it. The breeze started out at 15-20, but midway through racing the breeze calmed to 10-15, with an occasional higher puff. A great sailing day was missed by those who didn't venture off the dock or couch!

• Day 7, 1/14: Jesse Falsone/Lesley Frymier have a consistent day in the continuing light air. Despite the second light weekend in a row, we had 6 races and a great 14 boat turnout. With only 2 more days in series 1 and a three way tie for first, expect Phil, Jesse and Matt to be keeping an eye on each other!

• Day 6, 1/7: Phil Grotheer and Jen Millar win another after duking it out with Jesse Falsone and Lesley Frymier. The day started out looking pretty ugly-light for the first race, but a nice 5 knot SE breeze finally filled and gave us 4 more good races. Also, some great pictures courtesy of the RC!

• Day 5, 12/17: Jesse Falsone and JoAnn Jones show their heavy air stuff to win a crazy day. Our timing was about as good as it gets; we started after the rain and got in 4 warm weather races before the smoking cold front came whipping through. It was pretty breezy at 10-20 from the west for the first two races, but shifted to the NW and picked up to 15-25 with lots of "green meanies". About the time we got back to the dock it all broke loose, with rapidly dropping temps, 30+ knots and sleet!

• Day 4, 12/10: Phil Grotheer and Jen Millar have another consistent day and win the day. Anotherer cold one, this time with some rain... temps around 40 and 5 knots from the NE. Nonetheless a great turnout and very tight racing!

• Day 3, 12/3: Phil Grotheer kicks it into gear, winning the day by 5 points. It was pretty cold, in the lower 30's (OK, cold for Annapolis anyway) but the sun was shining most of the day and the breeze was a gentle 5-10 for the NE and we got in 9 races.

• Day 2, 11/26: Matt Cottrell and Barb Evans win another. 60, Sunny and 10-15 from the west. It pays to check the forecast. Those who looked out the window early in the morning and rolled over, missed a glorious day of sailing. The rain and clouds cleared out (exactly as predicted) just before race time and we got 10 races in with 6 boats.

• Day 1, 11/19: Matt Cottrell and Barb Evans win a squeaker. Despite light air and lots of current, we had four good races with 13 boats on the first counter of the season.

• Hal Gilreath and Rhonda Myers win the Opening Day Regatta. A beautiful start to the season.
