2001-2002 Season Summary

The Annapolis IC Fleet Remembers Rhett Simonds.

Day 18: The Showdown - Some exciting jockying between the top 4 for the 1/2 and 3/4 spots. In the end Hal breaks a shroud, giving him second for the season and sealing the overall season championship for Wayne. Jesse sails his best all year to win the day and force Alex worse than 3rd to take the third. See Bugly's writeup in the captial

Day 17: No Racing. No wind, lots of rain.

Day 16: Hal/Rhonda Myers were very fast to take the day. A beautiful day. 10-15 from the south, 60 dgrees and sunny. Exactly as advertised.

Day 15: Alex/Nancy just eek out a win over Jesse/Barb. A raw but day, but nice sailing and the case of beer is still in Alex's boat (for now).

Day 14: Blowing 30+. No Racing. Evidently even the Navy regatta was called.

Day 13: Light and very shifty. An impending cold front stalled and the resulting breeze was very unsettled. Wayne/JoAnn squeaked out a win while three boats nipped at their heels.

Day 12: Jesse finally wins a day. A light air day, but given the bad forcast, the 5-8 from the southeast was pretty nice.

Day 11: A great day of heavy air sailing. After last week's disappointing no air, we were served up the quintessential NWer. Wayne and Barb were most consistent to win the day.

Day 10 - February 10: No Wind, No Racing

Steve & Jane Kirkpatrick, Chad Demarest, and Whitney Besse from Scituate win the InterClub Midwinters

Day 9: Another light one, but 60+ degrees and 16 boats! Aden King/Molly Hughes win convincingly with good starts and speed.

Day 8: Kind of light, but warm, sunny and a great turnout. Alex Pline/Nancy Gilreath tie with Macy Nelson and Cecily Natunewicz but win the tie breaker. Also see some great photos By Kelly Whaley.

Day 7: Hooowling, but 5 boats made it out! Wayne Pignolet and Barb Evans win 3 of 4 races to win the day.

Day 6: Really Raw, but awesome turnout with 17 boats! Hal Gilreath/Rhonda Myers just nip Aden King/Molly Hughes.

Series 1, Day 5: Great lumpy, breezy conditions - like the evening summer series. Hal Gilreath and Lisa Pline top the very competitive day.

Series 1, Day 4: Yuck, slim to no breeze Wayne just nips Alex at the finish to win the one light air race.

Series 1, Day 3: Hal and Ian tore it up with 5 bullets in 8 races. Beautiful Day, 10-18 from the Northwest, 50 degrees and sunny, the kind of day Annapolis frostbiting is all about.

Series 1, Day 2: Excellent Turnout with 15 boats. Bryan Fishback returns after a 10 year hiatus in the Annapolis IC fleet to take the day by 1 point.

Series 1, Day 1: Blowing so hard from the south we sailed in Spa Creek! Wayne wins a close day of lake like sailing.

Opening Day: The beautiful weather continues! Mergs comes out of the blocks! Two members mae it out today Paul Hull (508) and Greg Leonard (695) - let's all make sure we introduce ourselves in th enext weeks.

The 2001-2002 Season Schedule is now set! Dust the garage crud off the IC and get ready for the best sailing in Annapolis.
