Turkey Tack 3.0
Turkey Tack 3.0 was a tough bird of a race this year but the awards ceremony kept all our sailors cooking until the very end!
The infamous Le Mans start from the flagpole featured over 20 sailors mashed together in a line ready for the starting signal. At the sound of the horn, sailors trotted as fast as they could to find their assigned boat, pull up the main, and get racing.
With temperatures in the low 40’s and blustery Northwest winds (fowl weather, anyone?), RC made a last minute change to keep the race course closer to home and mostly in the harbor.
Six strong sailors won the fight with the weather and completed the shortened course while still managing to pick up pumpkins on the way. Sailors who brought their gourds home got awarded prizes based on their size. Large pumpkin prizes included;
- A one year subscription to Spinsheet Magazine and a Spinsheet T-Shirt
- A complete skincare package developed by HarkenDerm
- A $100 gift card to Made+, a local shoe company with a focus on sustainability
- A matching pair of Annapolis Sailworks trucker hats
- A $50 gift card to Oscar’s Coffee in Eastport
- A set of gift cards to Dunkin Donuts and Capo Deli courtesy of Alexis Geary and Becky Hall
- An SSA swag bag full of merch
Smaller pumpkins could be exchanged for smaller prize bags ranging from $25 gift cards to score modifiers. Remaining pumpkins from the race course were brought back to the club and awarded to sailors by tying knots and answering nautical trivia questions.
